A woman you must be

It does not start with the pains of labour
But starts long before that
It does not start with that time of the month
But long before that
It does not start as a baby
For then ,nothing you know
It is not noticed as a toddler
For then you are in oblivion
But with a few years more
Then you see the difference
When you just don’t look like your brother
And all your playmates
Are only female
When you have to take extra care with everything
Even the expression on your face
When you cannot understand yourself
And even more explain to someone else
When you want to be in the spotlight yet behind the curtain you must be
When before yourself, others you must put
When you are in ardous pain
Yet a smile you’d gladly paint
That is when you realise
You are a woman
A woman you must be

Hmm a bit of sober satire but deeper. I think you could continue, maybe there’s more… I mean on the brighter side;-)
